Captain Graves, was a merchant sea captain in the second half of the 19th Century who history records as having skippered numerous commercial ships between the American East and West Coast ports. He is known to have painted seascapes and maritime subjects during moments of professinal leisure, primarily in the San Francisco Bay area.
